Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies Educai actually uses today — not a generic list of what sites in general might use.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of data a website asks your browser to store, then sends back on later requests. We also use local storage, a similar browser mechanism that is not sent with every request — we note the difference below where it matters.
2. Essential cookies
Educai sets a session cookie when you sign in, issued by our authentication system (Better Auth). It is required for you to stay logged in, for basic security (for example, confirming a request really came from your browser), and for core functionality like loading your dashboard. Without it, you cannot sign in.
3. Preference cookies
Educai does not currently set non-essential preference cookies. A small number of convenience settings — such as where you left off in onboarding, or a journal auto-save toggle — are kept in your browser's local storage, not a cookie, and stay only on your device.
4. Analytics cookies
Educai does not currently use any analytics cookies or analytics scripts (for example, Google Analytics). If that changes, we will update this page before any such cookie is set.
5. Advertising cookies
Educai does not currently use advertising or marketing cookies, and does not run ad-retargeting of any kind.
6. Third-party cookies
If you sign in with Google or GitHub, that provider's own sign-in page may set cookies during the redirect — this happens on their site, under their own cookie and privacy policy, not ours.
[Placeholder] Beyond sign-in, Educai does not knowingly embed other third-party scripts that set cookies today. If a specific integration is added later (for example, a payments or support-chat widget), this section will be updated to name it before it goes live.
7. Lifetimes
[Placeholder] The exact expiry of the session cookie is configured in our authentication system and has not been fixed in this draft; the operator can add a precise duration here once confirmed. You can always see a cookie's current expiry in your browser's own cookie manager.
8. Managing cookies in your browser
Every modern browser lets you view, block or delete cookies from its settings (usually under Privacy/Security → Cookies). Blocking the essential session cookie will sign you out and prevent logging back in, since Educai has no other way to keep you signed in.
9. Managing preferences on Educai
Educai does not currently offer an in-product cookie preference centre, because we do not currently set any cookie that would need one (only the essential session cookie). Because no non-essential cookies are set, we have not built a consent banner for them; if non-essential cookies are introduced later, we will add a consent mechanism before they are set and link it here — we will not claim an in-app preference tool exists before it does.
10. Changes & contact
We will update this page whenever the cookies we use change, and update the “Last updated” date above. Questions? Contact us at hello@educai.com.
